About
Panoptic Media is a forward leaning video production company based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Founded in 1991 by Jim Prues, Panoptic is focused on exemplary commercials, corporate communications and public service messaging.
Jim founded Panoptic after studying Communication Arts at Xavier University - this after recognizing that he couldn't raise a family playing music in bars. He's always been a curious sort, and that curiosity aids the creative process, so essential for good production. In the Hollywood classic Sunset Boulevard, Jim was not so taken with Gloria Swanson's dramatic line, "I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille." as her walk down the staircase, partially lit by the guy holding a bank of flood lights, following with each step she took.
Such fascinations continued with every step Jim took toward becoming a video professional. When the first Star Wars premiered, it was "So how'd they do that?" and on and on. Jim's fascination with the production process continues to this day.
Jim manages Panoptic still today, and is our Director of Photography. He also directs, produces and edits along with managing this little enterprise. He is supported by Brenda Owens, CPA [books and accounting], Marci Roblado [sales and producing], Mat Grimes [editing] and Regina Jones [administration]. We leverage other production resources as needed, always looking to maximize effectiveness and appropriateness for each project.
Over the years Jim has maintained his love for music, still actively playing with friends. He's also a golfer, an avid reader and is soon to be publishing his first book, World 5.0 - Transforming Ourselves, Our Earth and Our Life Together.
